When we contacted Two Sheds Workshop to ask if they might help us learn how to build habitat boxes to help our bush babies have somewhere to stay after the fires, they jumped at the chance and came straight to Mallacoota from Bega to run two caprentry workshops.

With funds raised by Jo and Tess with a GoFundMe page, wood cut by SMP Custom Joinery in Keysborough (and delivered by Frank the volunteer tradie), a lot of hard volunteer work and energy went into getting this up and running!

It was a fantastic day with over 20 people making more than 25 individual boxes!

We were donated another 70 beautiful boxes from Ringwood Men’s Shed (thank you Maryanne for storing them!) and then Covid happened!! And our plans to distribute and set them all up were delayed.

But in April, Bryce Watts Parker came back to town with another bunch donated by La Trobe Uni and put on a competition to win $50 and a copy of “What Would Happen Do You Suppose?’ – a fantastic kid’s book about the consequences of marine plastics by Julie Parker. Entries close end of April so send in your pics of your boxes set up ready for a furry or featherd family to make a home! Or let us know if you want one delivered (either flat packed to build yourself of ready made and ready to decorate)
